Born and raised here at Christ the Good Shepherd, Jeremy Hearne has been involved in church ministry since the age of seven. Jeremy holds a Master of Sacred Music degree from the University of St. Thomas and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Houston. He has also published an article in Antiphon: A Journal for Liturgical Renewal about the beautiful history of the Paschal Fire found at the beginning of the Easter Vigil. Musically, Jeremy has worked under several great orchestral conductors including Jeffrey Grogan and Franz Krager and sings intermittently with the Galveston-Houston Archdiocesan Choir.
He has a special interest in teaching about the rich texts of the Church’s liturgies as well as the signs and symbols found in the Sacraments. Due to the unique crossover between his background in history, music, and liturgy, Jeremy enjoys sharing with others the historical developments of the Church’s prayer and how it leads us to the beautiful public worship of God by the Church in the modern day. Additionally, he hosts the Saint Friends podcast, a short, weekly show that focuses on how the Saints of the Catholic Church lived human lives just like us but answered the same call to holiness that everyone hears.
Jeremy is the Director of Liturgy & Worship at Christ the Good Shepherd. As the coordinator for over 400 liturgical volunteer ministers, he manages schedules for lay ministers as well as the clergy. Every liturgy that is celebrated at CGS passes through his office at some point from weddings and funerals to baptisms, confirmations, and Sunday Mass. Most importantly, he is a husband that happily shops for groceries, cooks, and loves to spend time with his wife and son.
