Hello Christ the Good Shepherd Family! My name is Jacob Smith, and I am the new Liturgy and Music assistant here at the parish. I'm so excited to be here with all of you! Although I was born in Tulsa Oklahoma, I grew up in and around the Spring area. I converted to Catholicism and still regularly attend Mass at St. Ignatius of Loyola, and I am also co-director of the Spanish Choir at St. Anthony of Padua in the Woodlands. Though I grew up here in Texas, from 2018-2024 I was a Seminarian and Professed Religious Brother for the Priests of the Sacred Heart. I studied up in Wisconsin, where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy with a double minor in Theology & History from Marquette University.
Though I discerned out of religious life, I hope to soon re-enter the seminary for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and be ordained a diocesan priest. I am also a Professional Lyric Tenor and I love to sing. My hobbies include singing and listening to music (particularly Thomas Tallis and J. S. Bach), playing strategy games, reading books (my favorite author is Graham Greene), studying Philosophy, and collecting Rosaries. I look forward to being a part of the team here at CGS!
