My name is Deacon Miguel Quiñones. My wife (Susan), three adult children (Sara, Alex and Lily) and I have been parishioners at Christ the Good Shepherd for about 16 years. I have been married to Susan for almost 34 years.
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. I attended Catholic schools from childhood to high school. I graduated from college in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and obtained my law degree from Tulane University. I worked as a maritime attorney for an oil company right out of law school (1991) until I retired in June 2022.
I was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate with the Arch-diocese of Galveston-Houston on 2/14/25. Currently, in addition to a number of liturgy-related duties, I am ministering to immigrants detained at a center in Houston and bring communion to a number of homebound or elderly parishioners. I am also the coordinator for Baptisms in Spanish.
My favorite saints are St. Michael the Archangel, St. Augustine, St. John Paul II, and, of course, St. Stephen and St. Lawrence. These saints have taught me so much in my journey to holiness and guided me through the challenges of this world.
My favorite hobbies are riding motorcycles and walking (with our family dog, Trooper). I also enjoy traveling and learning about other cultures and places. I also can’t help myself but smile.
